Bourne Education Trust - formal consultation
We are very proud of our school and the strong sense of community that defines us. Our school motto is ‘A Journey to Excellence’ and we deeply value our nurturing ethos, our cohesive curriculum, the extensive skills and expertise of our staff and our strong relationships with our parents and local community. With this in mind, the Governing Body has been carefully considering how best to ensure the continued success, stability and growth of our school in the years ahead.
Following a period of thorough research and thoughtful reflection by governors and school leaders, we have decided to explore academy conversion and have selected Bourne Education Trust (BET) as our preferred partner.
This is a proactive and considered step, not one made from necessity or external pressure. Our aim is to ensure we can continue to provide the very best education for our pupils, further supported by a wider network of experienced professionals who share our strong values and aspirations for every child.
BET was established in 2011 and has grown steadily since then. It is made up of 26 academies and 9 associate schools across Hampshire, London and Surrey. It is responsible for the education of approximately 16,500 pupils and employs over 2,300 staff. The trust is organised into both phases and clusters to support specialist and cross-phase collaboration.
The size of BET's schools range from a one-form entry primary to an 8-form entry secondary school with a sixth form. Schools are equally important and carry the same influence in terms of decision-making within the Trust. Each school has its own Head and Local Governing Committee. The Trust is led by a core team of Alex Russell, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Penny Alford, Deputy CEO and a team of Directors.
There is now a period of formal consultation to seek the views of all stakeholders in the academisation of Audley. This commences from Monday 12th January and closes on 6th February. You can email your response to consultation@bourne.education or submit your views through this link: Consultation on proposals for Audley Primary School to convert to an academy – Fill in form.
A consultation meeting has been arranged for parents and carers and other school stakeholders on Wednesday 28th January 2026 at 6pm in the main hall at Audley Primary School. Representatives of BET and Audley Primary School will be present to discuss any questions.
