Welcome to Rosen Class. Our class teacher is Mrs Ahmed and Ms Aijaz.

We are an enthusiastic, charismatic and happy class. We are ready to learn amazing new things this year.

Rosen Class is named after an author called Michael Rosen. He has written lots of our favourite stories and poems such ‘Little Rabbit Foo Foo’, ‘Blue’ and ‘Chocolate Cake’. We really enjoy learning and reading books by our class author, and will be looking at traditional stories and poems such as ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’, also written by Michael Rosen and ‘The very Hungry Caterpillar’.

Our classroom is inviting, with bright and colourful displays as a way to show our amazing work throughout the year; these displays also help us with our work. We have lots of resources that are stored in trays with clear labels on so that we can choose our own equipment for an activity. This helps us to develop our independence as we grow throughout the year.

We have monitors in the classroom called ‘Classroom Helpers’ for different tasks. We love to help our peers and teachers. We sit at our tables and have special places called ‘Home seats’, as well as table groups for different lessons.

In English, we enjoy reading and learning about different stories as a whole class and on our own. We even have a cosy ‘Woodland’ themed reading area that is home to a lot of our favourite books that are within our reach so we can independently chose a reading book. We are taught how to use Phonics to help us to read these books with no help. Our phonics display is very colourful! Our grapheme chart and words of the week are displayed here to offer us a reminder on what we learn so we can use this in our writing.

In Maths, we develop our understanding of number by doing lots of interactive activities. We practise writing our numbers and we use resources and equipment to help us to understand place value, adding on and taking away, measuring and lots of other areas of maths. There are various times tables displays around the room to help us learn.

We enjoy learning through other topics, which are cross-curricular. Our first topic is ‘Enchanted Woodlands’, so we will be looking at different traditional story books such as ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ and ‘The very Hungry Caterpillar’. Throughout this topic we will combine our other subjects such as Art, History, Science and Geography to help us fully understand and explore the topic in great depth.
